Gasification of Solid Recovered Fuels with Variable Fractions of Polymeric Materials

Gasification is a promising thermochemical technology used to convert waste materials into energy with the introduction of low amounts an oxidant agent, therefore producing environmental impact that lower when compared incineration and landfilling. Moreover, gasification allows sustainable management wastes reduces use fossil fuels responsible for increment greenhouse gases. This work aimed perform tests solid recovered (SRF) containing organic fractions mainly retrieved from construction demolition assess potential conversion. Tests were conducted in pilot-scale downdraft gasifier (maximum feedstock input 22 kg/h) at c.a. 800 °C, using SRF samples different proportions polymeric ranging between 0 20 wt %. Gas chars obtained as by-products analysed evaluate their properties establish valid pathways valorisation. The addition reduced char production but rose both tar HCl concentrations gas. 10 % generated best results, highest calorific value gas (3.5 MJ/Nm3) cold-gas efficiency (45%). Possible applications include catalysts decomposition, or additive materials. can be considered solution energetic valorisation these SRFs.
